Ablaze with Glamour and Grace was on this Saturday night Darlington Hall at the yearly birthday-reception of his Lordship, The Earl of Darlington. Harold, as he is teasingly called by his intimate friends, tried to be the perfect host, offering a wide selection of mineral waters. There was the rare glimpse at the Tizard Tiara, worn by Her Grace lastly at the Wedding of Lady Diana, the then Princess of Wales. His Lordship delighted in a ring, given by his mother – a diamond studded H in white gold, in giving a welcome speech and in receiving wonderful and thoughtful presents. The shere elegance of his guests and their remarkable cosmopolitain air, the fact that all the beauties in town, young gentlemen and ladies I would call jeunesse dorée, were present, gave honour to the fact that His Lordships Party is generally said to be the beginning of the Hamburg Season. If this season will only have a sparkle of that Saturday evening, we will have a great Spring!
